Set up the Flange tool

1. Choose Surfaces > Draft Surfaces > Draft/Flange ❒.
2. Set the Mode to Flange, then click Go.
   TipDrag the tool to the shelf to save a custom version of the tool in this mode.

Pull surfaces from curves of an existing surface

1. Choose Surfaces > Draft Surfaces > Draft/Flange in Flange mode.
2. Click the isoparametric curves, edges, and/or curves-on-surface, then click Go.
3. Do any of the following:
   • Use the manipulators to adjust the draft surface.
   • -click a point on one of the original curves to add another angle/depth manipulator.
   • -click an angle/depth manipulator to delete it.
   • Click one of the handles, then drag left or right to change the parameter, or type a number.

     

Pull a single surface from tangent-continuous curves of existing surfaces

1. Choose Surfaces > Draft Surfaces > Multi-Surface Draft ❒.
2. In the option box:
   • Set Type to NORMAL to create a flange-like surface, or DRAFT to create a draft surface.
   • Set Surface Type to SINGLE SURFACE.
   • Check on Auto Recalc.
3. Click the isoparametric curves, edges, and/or curves-on-surface. Click the curves in order from one end to the other.

   As each curve is added, it is highlighted in yellow, and a flange surface is built. A single flange surface is created no matter how many surface curves have been selected.

   

   NoteYou will not be able to select a curve if it is not tangent continuous with the previous curve you selected. Use Evaluate > Continuity > Curve Continuity to test the continuity. Use Object Edit > Align > Align 2008 to make the curves tangent.
4. If you set Type to DRAFT, you will also need to select a pull vector to specify the initial direction of the surface. (Use the Vector Options or use Construction > Vector to create a vector object).
5. Use the manipulator to adjust the flange/draft surface’s height or angle.

Set the angle or height at a point along the surface

• Click one of the handles, then drag left or right to change the parameter, or type a number.
• Use the Variable option to determine whether the manipulator controls the angle or height parameter.
• You can add additional manipulators by clicking anywhere on the curve(s).
