Control the chordal distance along the length of a variable fillet surface
 
 
 

How to use the manipulators in the Surface fillet tool to build a variable chordal fillet.

  1. Choose Surfaces > Surface Fillet to show the fillet control window, then click the Advanced tab.
  2. In the control window, set Construction Type to CHORD an check on Variable Fillets.
  3. In the control window, set Chordal Type to CHORDAL LENGTH and Chordal Distance to the initial chord length for the fillet.

  4. After building the fillet, you can add several chordal manipulators along the length of the fillet and assign them different values.
    To... Do This
    Add a new chordal manipulator Click a point on the blue line running along the fillet surface.
    Select a manipulator. Click the manipulator.
    Change the chordal distance of the selected manipulator. Drag the .
    Move the selected manipulator along the surface. Drag the .
    Remove a manipulator. Hold and click the manipulator.
  5. If you want to specify the tangent length for all manipulators, instead of the chordal distance, set Chordal Type to TANGENT LENGTH.

    The appearance of the manipulator changes slightly. The Chordal Distance field in the control window becomes Tangent Length.
